The current craze of mutilation has come about from Jewish practices - because many doctors (nearly 15%) are Jewish, compared to about 2% of the overall population. Enough babies are treated in Jewish Hospitals (because they also tend to be nicer hospitals) and few things are more guaranteed than a first-time mother wanting to have their idealised birthing experience - so many would experience these practices, Jewish or not, as they’re following the recommendations of their physician. As archaic and brutal as the process is.

I would actually go as far as to say that all people who circumcise their babies are not adherents of their religion. Why would the loving gods or God create a part of the human body that alnost all males are born with and tell the oarents of these vulnerable male babies to painfully slice off that part? … Doesnt seem like something a loving god or God would assent to.
