I have the 3 door variant of the car in this picture and it was just fine using it when my son was born. My wife would always forget to turn the headlights off because there’s no audible alert when getting out so would get a flat battery often.
Like Wallace and Gromit but instead of cheese it’s biscuits.

I don’t think we’ll ever get rid of cars entirely but better city planning and better laws (depending on country) would help the reduction of cars in towns and cities. Make it more inviting for people to use alternative transport.
Most of my food shopping I do on my ebike. Little and often, but I happen to be in a town with nearby shops and quite good cycle route options. If we do use our car we usually do shopping at the end of a longer trip while returning home.
Yeah I’d say it’s 80’s. This is the Mk4 Escort which was based on the shell of a Mk3 which was released in 1980.
My very first car was Mk4. Then in 2017 I got nostalgic and bought one again.

3·5 days agoLike that killdozer where some dude (farmer? Can’t remember) bought a bulldozer and fortified it and welded himself inside. He didn’t go on a killing rampage, he had beef with the city and squashed loads of buildings.
As you said it came to an end when he couldn’t move it. I think he got it stuck rather than running out of gas.
My dad didn’t teach me anything like this. He did, though, hand me down used items like an electric razor because he got a new one. He was a giant prick, but I don’t think he was trying to be a shit dad, he just was! (And I’m gobsmacked how people do stuff like this without realising their consequences to other people). I now get to be the opposite now I’m a dad with a son.
Interestingly some models of cars have a lock to disable the front passenger airbag when a child is to be seated there. I’m guessing this is a law in some countries.

2·25 days agoI like that burn! How long did you have that one stashed in your tool box?
My take on it is that the manager should take her complaint seriously and should not have replied like that. That’s all we can really go on as we don’t know anything else about the situation, work load, what Marcus should be doing, etc.

That’s from the chippy.
