I think we are all aware that it’s the taboo surrounding something that makes it enticing or appealing.

An example I always fall back onto is nudity in general. Most people view nudity as being erotic but talk with a nudist or naturist and nudity loses it’s entire taboo background and becomes just a natural state.

But nudity is low hanging fruit, in my opinion.

I could dispense with marital jealousy. Not fidelity, jealousy. Two people can be together, love each other, but they are not dead. They can still see people around them and notice if someone is attractive or not. It’s not necessary to act on it but it is completely unjustified to hold someone on a bad account just because they have eyes.

I laugh when my partner shows me a meme where a perfect male model is pictured. I’m completely unremarkable by contrast but she’s with me. That’s my win.

    Well that one is honestly just an excuse, not an actual belief about sex. “Protecting” kids is framing the argument, not a real reason.

    I’d say the bans on sex toys, anal, etc that exist in some states is a better example.
