I know, that’s a horrific way to die knowing the full time that you’re dying that you’ll forever be tied to a thing colloquially referred to as the glory hole.
Depressing that it almost never looks like this anymore due to climate change. Last time was a year ago, before that it was six years without the water level hitting spill height.
edit: this is what it looks like most of the time.
Used to live near a pond with something like this. Not nearly as big, and was square, but could also climb down and see the underside where the water fell down and formed a stream.
Pretty neat. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Berryessa#Geography
Jeeeeeeeeesus!
Found some further info. There’s a little video of the water flowing in too:

That thing is nightmare fuel. If you swim in the vicinity of that you are either suicidal or a fucking idiot.
A glory hole is a glory hole.
Nooooo, the little duck :(
Why isn’t there a safety grate on top to prevent larger objects like wood…or people from being sucked in? risk of clogging?

I mean yeah I guess… pretty disappointing that its just a man-made spillway, I got my hopes up that it was some crazy natural phenomenon.

Was pretty cool.
