i just learned that gitlab is publicly traded on the nasdaq.

no one is getting laid off by ai. its the firing cycle whovh has been going on for decades but now they get to say its ai and watch investors salivate.

“AI Pivot” dear lord. That won’t save you. Use AI, add AI features, but build a useful forge, that’s what your company is all about. It is already so slow and bloated that it holds humans back, never mind the “agents”.

Ironically a not AI pivot and a solid reliability guarantee would be a godsend in branding. GitHub right now has shit reliability and they could easily position the themselves to be a true workhorse. Instead they decide to go and huff paste because of shitty investors and board members I’d wager.

I was thinking of opening a gitlab account, saw their awful AI branding and said “no thank you”.

I was a gitlab hater since before they were slop, they’ve always been pro-censorship even of political speech (not even anything extreme just a tracker of the conservatives (UK) body count).

And why not? The platform has been running flawlessly for years now. Those ‘hu-mans’ are basically cruft now.
