That said, the World Wide Web itself is a collaborative international work, and it always has been - though amusingly, TBL credits Ted Nelson (an American) with having done the critical work (developing hypertext document linking), and Ted Nelson in turn credits TBL and his team at CERN as the people who took the idea and “ran with it”.
Nobody here is attempting to assign or take away credit for the development of the WWW except you, which is honestly pretty weird. The internet was an american invention - the internet we use (gestures grandly) is the most impressive work of international collaboration in human history.
