Sorry to @jonathan and you. The original reports were about tariffs, but that makes little sense. You are both absolutely right.

[Edit: Foiks, please ignore this comment. It was uninformed and dumb.]
Um, in the spirit of “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander,” lifting sanctions on Iranian oil does not make Iran any money at all. It just lowers prices in the country implementing the tariffs, the USA. The tariffs are the dumb idea, lifting them is good, even in this case.
(I know there are circumstances where tariffs are good. This does not seem to be one of them.)
I knew it! That’s why autocorrect constantly switches important word(s) to “duck”!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Any Lemmings that have been regular fasters for at least a couple years? What's your first hand experience and opinion on fasting for health benefits?English
8·22 hours agoIt’s been a long time, now. My takeaway: I turned into a monster on fasting days, so much so that my friends would whisper when they saw me approaching. It worked, in that I lost weight. It would have been easier for me to lose weight by just eating better food.
As with all things diet and nutrition, I also learned that what works for me definitely might not work for someone else, and that something that doesn’t work for me, might. Everybody’s metabolism is weird and wonderful and you need to figure out what works for you.
Right now, I figured out that not eating after 18:00 (6p) improves my sleep a ton. If I had to restart, I would just “fast” by imposing an evening cutoff for food/calories.

Progressive Politics@lemmy.world•ICE at airports, is actually a good thing.English
6·23 hours agoThis post is to tell us that OP is not flying anytime soon.
It took TSA five years until they stopped consistently behaving like every single passenger was a terrorist threat. Gonna bé aweome when ICE décides who can and who cannot fly.

1·5 days agoThe actual time is not the problem, but the amount of busy work that benefits nobody. When I started my computer shop in Italy many years ago, I ended up needing 12 signatures from different offices, and each one cost me weeks to get. I still remember the first one, I had to prove I had a functioning toilet and the official claimed he had been at the store and found it locked, despite the fact I had been standing at the door the entire day.
Being able to do it quickly is neat. Being able to do it predictably is awesome.

0·5 days agoIs that where my friend wanted me to buy “real estate” a few years ago? He said he had gotten $200,000 invested and was going to retire once he sold… I suppose we are back to the original plan now, “Chick-Fil-A Chef Until 75”

Unimaginable cruelty, taking children that have never known another home and sending them to fend off somewhere completely alien to them, probably without even anyone to take care of them.
