  • I mean, those turning to crime could easily open their eyes and find out here’s a train station nearby, or a bus stop, or a tram stop, and instead choose to fare evade like a normal well adjusted human being. /s

    Really though, public transport in the major cities here in Australia is well fleshed out, but dependent on what specific city. The city discussed here is Adelaide, which seems to have a pretty limited public transport service compared to say Melbourne or Sydney, although I haven’t seen the bus routes so maybe it’s actually surprisingly good there.

    Edit: ok I found a map of Adelaide that’s probably legit. It’s very clear that people could just use public transport if they can’t afford to drive currently. Even if you don’t want to, or can’t afford, to pay a public transport ticket top-up (even though it’s pretty cheap), fare evasion is pretty widespread all over Australia, so you won’t look out of place if you do so, but I hate how many people evade fares, it strangles the network.
