mad maxing intensifies
the outback is pretty much mad max.
they will probably send them to tasmania.
I mean, those turning to crime could easily open their eyes and find out here’s a train station nearby, or a bus stop, or a tram stop, and instead choose to fare evade like a normal well adjusted human being. /s
Really though, public transport in the major cities here in Australia is well fleshed out, but dependent on what specific city. The city discussed here is Adelaide, which seems to have a pretty limited public transport service compared to say Melbourne or Sydney, although I haven’t seen the bus routes so maybe it’s actually surprisingly good there.
Edit: ok I found a map of Adelaide that’s probably legit. It’s very clear that people could just use public transport if they can’t afford to drive currently. Even if you don’t want to, or can’t afford, to pay a public transport ticket top-up (even though it’s pretty cheap), fare evasion is pretty widespread all over Australia, so you won’t look out of place if you do so, but I hate how many people evade fares, it strangles the network.

Ahh yes, take a bus that requires two connections and results in a nearly 2h trip to avoid 30 minutes of driving.
Public transport is absolute dog shit everywhere in Australia.

Fixed that for you
i agree it can be a bit inconvenient at times, but realistically public transport isn’t dogshit everywhere, I’d say it would be half-half, some areas expand commute time, some drastically collapse it.
talking in absolutes when it comes to public transport being slow or fast, or good or bad, is a bit foolish if not supported by anything or specified by location.
And just saw you know, police are saying it’s the servo’s fault for not having prepay pumps installed and they won’t investigate.
So you’re saying petrol is free in aus at any non-prepay pump? 😂
