I think hollywood execs would be happy to see the average quality of movies go way down, in exchange for 100% control of the face of the movies.

and that’s going to be the key strategy as well. Point is if EVERYTHING gets bad at the same time, people just accept it and pick the least bad option. Long as no studio can afford to make high quality acted movies… people will go see the new crap. Especially as they’ve transitioned everything to focus on IP rather than actors.

Gambling and math would seem to me the opposite of two face’s concepts. IE the classic coin flip is because he considers 50/50 luck to be fairness. Gambling maths are typically, figuring out how to make something unfair in your favor.

I think the real point is, to try to adjust for the source, figure out what topics they seem to avoid, and take that into account. Point is there’s not really any news you can trust to be honest always about everything. But if you can figure out what topics each source is likely to censor and misrepresent, you can get the most accurate picture possible.

Yeah the general concept is… Agents and Detectives aren’t the line of fire people. Detectives are called in AFTER the action is long over, and regular cops would be the ones doing the chasing in the .01% of situations where there’s someone on scene to chase.

Most types of “agents” are pretty boring overall. Interviews, note taking, or if it is excitement they are undercover so, they’d wear what matters for that role.

and of course 99% of combat is, draw a gun, aim for the center of mass.

Physical violence is mostly only done by badly trained beat cops, or failed beat cops that are now ice agents.

No there’s a valid point to not want to be a part of a community that platforms the individuals. and I can certainly see a valid point in why blocking doesn’t solve it. 1. different users post from the artists, it’s not going to be met at an individual level.

IMO it should be a community level decision.

I feel like we just need to split comics. Whole point of lemmy is to basically allow us to fragment. so mods of world comics don’t care, why not pick an instance make a comic strips with a banned author list. If more people would like to be free of comics from unsavory authors they can move there.

In short Scott Cawthorn the creator donates a lot of money to political campaigns. Per his explanation a strong military is his single issue vote. Which has him throwing money towards people like Mitch McConnel, Tommy Tubberville, Trump and Tulsi Gabbard.

I get the concept, it’s basically the same issues in like Harry Potter or Five nights at freddies. IE a lot of LGBT people like these works, but it’s also unquestionable that the profits that the works make, are used to bolster hate against these groups, even if the works themselves are not harmful to them.

So yes I also go with this camp, platforming non-hateful work made by hateful people still supports hateful creators and allows them to amplify the hateful message.

That said this is lemmy. We have the means here. If lemmy world comic strips want an open door “as long as the comics posted themselves aren’t hateful it’s allowed”. Perhaps someone should make a Comic Strips on a different instance, and lemmy users can vote with their feet.

I mean I’d have to say, it is a sizable portion of americans. IE the whole selling point of tarrifs is to encourage manufacturing and jobs to move over here. There certainly is a significant amount of overlap between people that want more manufacturing in america that also widely want minimum wage to stay the same or even go down.

I mean peer tube and similar exist. I think the majority of channels with over a 25k views, I don’t think there’s a consistant number anyone gets, but something like 100 bucks per 25k views or so is pretty common.

A bit of a rough one, but I’d say it’s passed the point of concern. IE I tend to view it in life stages. 25-46 is IMO a lot less creepy than say, 20 dating 30. In spite of the gap being halved. Graduating college is a big step, getting started in a career.
