I play DBD, Arc Raiders, Wild Assault, and others just fine. Funny enough, it’s just a few specific big names with the most anticheat problems: Valorant, Fortnite, BF6, and COD. In some ways, I’m happy not to have to even consider them.

There’s a lot of anime and hero stories that have a speech like this, a tautology about moving forward when the characters are unsure about their actions.

The worst part is, it can be destructive. Like, when one Nazi says to another, “Hey…should we really be killing all these Jews instead of just deporting them like we originally planned?” And this kind of phrase, when given in response, is meant to inspire some form of persistence to the current course, no matter how stupid or horrible it is.

The US government is not a person. It’s a lot of people who individually choose to follow the rules. One of those rules is: Congress decides wars. You might have missed the point behind my question.

If there is one thing anyone should have learned about 2025, it’s that in the United States, there are never any real consequences for breaking the rules. Each of us decides which ones are real and which to follow.

There’s an untold amount of wasted energy in gaming discourse, and it’s so pointless and frustrating because I’ve played so much indie stuff in 2025/2026 it’s exhausting to work out what my GOTY is - yet Lord Doomer, King of Organized Backlash, is still just raging on whatever game just came out for $70 with Denuvo attached. (When it’s often unlikely they’d be buying said game even if it was $60 and DRM-free)

No, I think the conditionals put on the statement are enough. If you’re not in Call of Duty’s audience, that’s fine: Don’t endlessly rag on it. Talk about games you like, instead of centering the conversation on what you don’t.

The cultural things you mention might make sense if you read about a school shooting and theorize “Man, this guy must’ve played too much Call of Duty.” But when discussing the industry or what we play, it’s unproductive to keep bringing up the big names in the room if you don’t care about them. Let the “GTA 6 Release Trailer” go uncommented instead of grandly announcing how much you don’t care.
