The guy was denied by a judge (J Arguellas) appointed by a republican governor, though his (the judge’s) position is designated as non-partisan. Just for a little context.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it wrong of me not giving a shit when cops get killed? They signed up for the job know what it entails. Same with Firepeople. I feel bad 4 families but no one gives a shit about Nurses or DRs?
2·9 days agoYeah, firefighters are in the same class as lifeguards. They’re protecting people from forces of nature, and don’t have any ideology that is central to their work other than “save lives”.
Thanks for the response. I phrased the original question rather poorly, but I was glad to learn a bit about the FIDE World Cup. I hope for the safety of this year’s Cadidates’ tournament.
Thank you. A few of the responses made me realize that I didn’t phrase the question very well initially. I appreciate the response, and I think the sentiment you shared is at the center of my question.
I phrased the question poorly, and should have clarified that I was asking if anyone that had planned to attend a match was reconsidering. Maybe I’ll edit it later, and I appreciate the response.
Thanks for the response. I work in an area where the my bosses are frantically trying to “get ready” for the massive crowds anticipated for World Cup, and lately I’ve been wondering why anyone, much less a crowd, would be planning to travel to the US if they didn’t absolutely have to.

I tried signing up for eHarmony, back when that was a thing. I find it funny now because I’m happily married, but when I set up my profile the website basically told me that it couldn’t match me with anyone. Felt like shit for a while, but then I realized it’s the apps that are full of shit. Meeting people doesn’t take an app, and sometimes the apps proactively make meeting people more difficult.
