I’ve never understood why bathrooms or sports are segregated by gender.

Sports aren’t entirely divided by gender. There are female competitions, which are only for women, and ‘male competitions’, which are open to everybody. Though women rarely enter the latter, because, aside from chess, they get obliterated due to unfair physiology.

When I hear ‘mainstream phone’, in my mind I picture an iPhone or a Samsung. So yeah, Linux phones are definitely not achieving that this decade. Though personally I don’t think they necessarily need to, at all.

Point 4 is probably not happening any time soon, if ever, either. Rest is slowly being done and progressing, so I’m not seeing any major problems there.

I don’t think anyone realistically expects a Linux phone to compete with an iPhone in terms of ease of use, quality of life features or UI/UX. As far as I’ve seen, people just want a decent phone with basic functionalities like long battery life, good camera, easy to use and smooth UI, maps and navigation. All while being more private and secure, of course.

Linux phones have already been around for many years. Right now we’re very close to Linux phones that are usable on a daily basis. Not as close to decent Linux phones, of course, but with the right (not at all unrealistic) resources it could be completely within reach in a year or two.

Also, Flatpaks exist and work pretty much just like Android apps.

They may not be the same, but the ones we have in the EU, or at least the ones I’ve seen, run on batteries. They’re not connected to anything. You can just yoink one and it works. I’ve seen some people do that and was tempted to myself. Not sure about the software side. If it’s realistically possible to display something else entirely on them, then it’d be cool to have.

We have a lot of those in the EU as well, except prices change once every 48 hours at most, due to discounts activating or expiring. Shit like this is thankfully completely illegal, as is expected in any resonably advanced country.

It’d be a good start to just conduct proper tests before handing people firearm permits. People who can barely read or who rage when you honk at them should never be allowed to own, let alone carry firearms.

I totally understand your sentiment and I believe a very interesting, as well as productive discussion can, and perhaps should, be made on this topic.

Of course, I have no doubts there are many people who’d completely agree with your stance. This was, however, not the main focus of the discussion, which is why I decided to leave it on the side.

The number of negative and/or “just vote for democrats idiot” comments shows how brainwashed and doomed Americans really are.

Nobody’s saying that voting for the just a tiny bit slightly less evil party is wrong and you shouldn’t do it. What people are saying is that it will solve nothing and lead to no real change. At best it’ll result in Americans being ever so slightly less abused on a daily basis. Which is of course better, but still shit. That’s the main point.

To most people, it’s fine to vote for liars, scumbags, criminals, and pedophiles, as long as they’re the least bad available candidates. However, if you’re struggling with admitting that they are indeed liars, scumbags, criminals, and pedophiles, and should be at best put in prison, then I’m sorry to say, but there may not be hope for you.

Even if Americans managed to get rid of the entire republican party, and have a government purely made of democrats, it’d still be a far-right government, one of the worst on the planet. Let that sink in. All Americans deserve better. As a matter of fact, all humans deserve a better American government, since it unfortunately impacts us all. But you’re not gonna get anything close to a resonably good one by voting. It’s just not happening in our lifetimes. Likely not even our children’s. If you genuinely wish for a decent life, then you can either leave the country or prepare for mass riots. I know it sucks, but that’s the reality Americans - and everybody else - live in.

This is precisely why US public transport is stuck in the 1800s. And why EU public transport is stuck in 1950s.

All while China has public transport from 2030s and nearly more subway railways (by total length) than the rest of the world combined. Of course, this is not meant to glaze China. Just to give credit for building public transport without a profit incentive.
