Do the feds lock people up for non payment like that states do?
If so, do you know the ratio they use for days in jail for dollars owed?
In my state, a couple of decades back I think it was a day for every ten dollars owed. But they are always increasing punitive fines. Like if you get a ticket and can’t pay in 10 days, less time than a paycheck takes to be paid, often 14 days, then the fine doubles.
If a period of time passes and that isn’t paid, they revoke your license, (150 reinstatement fee, they will revoke a license multiple times after it’s already suspended, I know someone that had to pay 3 of them to get his license back.)
Then after a period if you can’t pay, with a doubled fee and revoked license, they send you to jail a day for every 10 owed. Then send a civil bill for the cost of jailing you that gets sent to collections if you don’t pay it.

I’m just looking over from the other side of the pond. But to me it looks like that time has already come?
We’ve got a lot of tech that has the potential to be misused or used to go after ordinary citizens lying around. This, traffic cameras, ad id tracking, and a few others but so far it hasn’t really been used at scale. There are tens of victims so far rather than hundreds, thousands, or more.
Though the article did mention that the pigs were using a technique called parallel construction, which is when they have evidence of a crime that has not been obtained legally and they use that to look for other, legal means to collect evidence to prove the crime in court. So maybe this happens all the time and we just don’t know it yet.

They have a lot more information than people think they do, and aren’t as dumb as people think they are.
