Yeah it was maybe 30$ for a set of wet shaving stuff, blades, brush, bowl, and a 12 pack of arko sticks (I inherited the razor handle). Haven’t spent anything on shaving since. If I’d been using Gillette this whole time it’d probably have been hundreds of dollars.
Bought 50 feather blades about a decade ago an im still working through them. Good investment.
And those blades are basically pennies each. Meanwhile the cost for 10 cartridge head replacements can be the same as a whole safety razor kit.

They last forever too. I hadn’t really even thought about it in literally years, but my little pile of blades is probably older than that.
