German chancellor Friedrich Merz announced sweeping tax, pension and labour reforms today, including that workers will now be required to get a medical certificate saying they’re too unwell to work from the first day of sick leave.
I agree mostly. The test is the same but its a somewhat more trusted third party. And my brother regularly stayed home for 14 days to play video games before they introduced the tests laughing his ass off that he got full pay. And especially on Lemmy you see a lot of anti employer sentiment. I’m not saying it’s not earned, but I’m also a small business owner and am very lucky that my employees feel valued and are honest with me, because somebody missing too much work would probably bankrupt me sooner or later. Yes they feel treated well and are payed very well, but thats not a guarantee they won’t exploit my good will, had some of those as well and they usually don’t stay for long luckily.
