I was living in New York on 9/11/2001 and worked not far from Ground Zero.
Many people volunteered services at the site, and many others provided free services to the workers. There were free cafes for Fire, Police, and EMS.
Donald Trump never contributed so much as a can of soda.
But he did gloat afterwards how his hotel was now the biggest building (it wasn’t).
He was talking about 40 Wall Street, a building he’d purchased. He said it was the tallest in downtown. Just to be factual.
I went by that place almost daily. The funny thing was that for years the retail space on the ground floor remained empty. Somehow the great dealmaker couldn’t find anyone who’d rent it.
Come now that’s not fair, he called up the radio to gloat about how having the tallest building in New York. It wasn’t even true.
