I disagree with where they call the US loss in Vietnam insignificant. Had the US won Vietnam they would of had a staging ground to pressure China with land forces, potentially robbing China of the breathing room needed to focus on civilian economic development over immediate defense concerns. Afghanistan I think is debatable but I’ll leave that for others.

For sure, Vietnam was one of the biggest setbacks for the empire.
More importantly, Vietnam showed that, as my favorite game quote used to say:
Let’s not forget Korea, the first bloody nose and reality check for the mighty, unstoppable US empire after WW2.
