My city recently changed all it’s busses for electric busses.
Same here. Unfortunately the company that is taking over and now running the show is incompetent so it’s impossible to trust a bus that says it’s coming, to actually arrive on time, if at all. The Netherlands isn’t all sunshine and rainbows :')
Do the buses not have GPS trackers so that an app on your phone can tell you exactly how long the wait for the next one is?
Yeah, but sometimes (like last Wednesday) the app says the bus will arrive in e.g. 5 minutes, after a delay of 2 minutes. And then it still never shows up :)
Great win for air quality and noise levels
What is the best recent bike-friendly measure that happened in your city?
In my city, some bike lanes were replaced by bike streets, which go along a river, for example, or a commuter train line. These are made in a way that it is easy to cross car streets, but cars can’t pass through them. There is now a lot of bike traffic, and the bike streets and cycleways are starting to form a protected bike network.
You know that apparent law of the universe, which is that when you solve one big ugly problem, you get one or two nicer problems as a reward? Our city has now dense bike traffic at times, and sometimes almost bike traffic jams…
Planned road works on the main road so no cars are parked in the bike lane anymore, just a line of cones instead. Takes up less space than the cars did.
I am hoping the road surface continues to degrade so that cars are no longer able to drive at dangerous speeds. My hybrid bike sees more mud than any SUV I have ever seen.
What city is this? It sounds wonderful.
