2·1 month agoOuch. These news hurt. Does anyone know what are the estimated numbers on the other side? IMHO a comparison would be great insight…

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Fuck FIFA, where can I watch live games without giving them any money?English
2·2 months agoI go for latin american transmissions, in my mother tongue. Just search at DDG “futbol libre” and go with the first domain on the list. Always works.
Thanks. Very good comment, I agree… And yet…
Ironically, not being on what most people are using (stock Chrome without extensions) is already a fingerprint. And tor browser, even if it is providing anonymity, is also a huge fingerprint on itself, by blocking all the fingerprinting stuff…
The irony is lost the moment you come up with a proper threat model upon which you base the decisions of what security and privacy measures are going to be taken for a given online activity.
I really liked (and used it for quite a while) that extension, Ad Nauseam, that would actually follow behind scenes all ads and shit…
Who knows what o.g. wolverine has in their pants? They may as well be hermaphrodite… The question assumes too much :)

Technology@lemmy.world•Telegram is lying to you about privacyEnglish
1·2 months agoEver since the CEO of Telegram was basically lured to Paris, arrested, then read the riot act for Telegram’s non-cooperation with French authorities, the company has been responding to warrants and downplaying its “E2EE” features. Expect them to have a fully accessible backdoor for LE.
What does LE stands for?
Also, do you have any sources to your claims?
Just the other day, I wondered myself: what happened after that detention in Paris? I haven’t read anything else. Is he in prison or free?? No idea! Is there an ongoing trial? What were the accusations?
I always have pizza with hummus. I am surprised pizzerias don’t offer it already in their menu …

Technology@lemmy.world•Pope urges 'disarming' of AI in major manifestoEnglish
61·2 months agoI am sorry you had gone through that experience. The only church that illuminates at all is the one we can set on fire :')
PS. This thread can easily spin on another reiteration of the arguments around “separating the art from the artist”. That text on AI may have a certain sympathy to some… I haven’t read it. After this post, I thought “maybe I should?”. Thanks to your comment I got centered back in my perspective: “nah. the pope can say whatever he wants to. I won’t be his supporter nor audience.”

Technology@lemmy.world•Facebook and Instagram Tighten Censorship Rules for Saying “Antifa”English
71·4 months agoYou need to read Antifa, a manual written by Mark Bray. You will be surprised with history. The real propaganda was the billionaire media that biased your opinion. No offense (unless you really skip skimming through the easily found online epub, in which case you’d be denying yourself the chance to grow and hence lose any respect I had for the human being you are ;)
So that’s how you loose your eye. Good thing you only have yourself to blame, I guess? /s

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Ideon: I'm building a self-hosted project cockpit on an infinite canvas (v0.5 update)English
1·5 months agoAs OP said, stars correlated with their own posting on Lemmy. So your affirmation is not absolutely true. It’s all relative… same applies to posting on reddit vs. lemmy… There’s a dilemma between popularity vs. a smaller niche population with ethical concerns.
In a similar vein, PRs might be more in quantity but less in quality when comparing any foss project on github vs codeberg…

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Non-Americans who have been to the US.. What is the weirdest thing about America that Americans don't realize is weird?
1·2 years agoSorry to be honest, but this is my view…
Voting between two parties, and then getting whatever the “electors” pick. All the while, thinking they live under the biggest democracy of the world.
Having all sorts of inhuman behaviors, like robbing childs from immigrants.
Child marriage.
Having lots of weapons in the country but all wars outside.
Mmm… What else? Ah, prisoners are slaves.

The environmental impact can be discussed. Maybe training Kimi 2.7 is like sending a rocket to the moon. But using it locally can be optimized and then is as much as running your GPU. Arguably the impact is similar to gaming then.
(I know this is an unpopular opinion because it reads as defending oligarchs. Sorry!)
