All that mega mergers create is:

    • layoffs
    • higher prices
    • less competition
    • “too big to fail” bailouts
    • less innovation

And in the case of media mergers:

    • poorer quality
    • more censorship

On the other hand not having these mega merges leave the EU companies easy targets for companies from outside the EU and in the end you will not have anymore big EU companies and all the problems you mention.

The Brits left. People already predicted then that it would be the end of free markets and that state-backed companies would run the show like they do in France.

With a .fr account, does this look like a French strategy to you, too?

    Oh ffs.
We’ve been doing the scenic route to fascism for surprisingly long, no need for a speedrun.

There are so few industries that “need” (due to outside pressures/competition/macroeconomics/geopolitics) megacorps and even those should be nationally controlled or a nonprofit simply bcs they are too important & part of general/essential infrastructure.

High-end chip production for example. Maybe batteries in the short-near term.
