As someone who’s lived through this process in Russia, you have to fucking revolt on the streets to stop this. Even that may or may not be enough. Otherwise in a few years you’ll end up in your own isolated intranet where every social network requires taking a selfie with an ID document to sign up, and any wrongthink in private DMs will result in a visit from the Ministry of Truth.
