If you’re only into MCU movies, then no—you aren’t a real Marvel fan and should not discuss Marvel. If you don’t have experience in a subject, then you shouldn’t discuss it.

I mean, uhh, kinda? But sometimes people have important questions and aren’t just asserting things from ignorance and to stop them from participating would just keep them ignorant which isn’t very prosocial of us. If you want to participate and speak your mind and know almost nothing about the topic, I think the most honest and least annoying way to do so is to give everyone a disclaimer (“I’m very ignorant about this but I feel like…”).
Idk about talking about the Oscars and being interested in movies as a medium. Talking about the Oscars critically would require more knowledge about movies in the sense of “Hollywood is, at least today, just another Western grift”, their reasons for keeping the Oscars relevant and money-laundering schemes, lol.

There’s a difference between discussing something and speaking as an authority on a topic. I have a coworker who parrots the saying, “seek to understand before seeking to be understood”. Nobody understands everything about anything. Having conversations and learning from them are part of gaining knowledge.
