What the hell is an .avif format? Anyway, you can just save it as .png and that works.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•When did Jesus become a christian?
821·2 days agoHe didn’t. Up until the time of Paul (decades after the Jdog’s death), Christianity was a Jewish sect seeking to become mainstream Judaism. It was only then that early Christians shed their Jewish identity.
That’s in the story, but in the History, Christianity arose from Greece and Rome, not Judea. It was never a Semitic religion. Instead borrowing elements of that combined with Paganism.
Either way, a Historic Jesus would have died a Jew. The mythological Jesus may do whatever and I’m aware of Christians who’ll deny he was ever a Jew.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do first time movie writers ensure someone along the way won't get ripped off? Like say Jay in the mail room sees your scripts and develops it himself, what recourse is there against mail clerk?
23·3 days agoMost scripts in Hollywood are worth less than than the paper they’re printed on. And if you can separate the value from the slop, you’d make more money working for the industry than stealing from it.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•I worry that reading through Marxist books would be boring. Are there any fun and exciting ways to study without losing focus or getting bored quickly?
282·6 days agoWhy do you want to study Marxism in the first place? Most people do that because it’s interesting to them. The chances that that knowledge will help you in your life is vanishingly small.
You don’t need to understand Marx to criticize capitalism. All you need to do is exist under capitalism.

163·6 days agoIf your writing is being spied on because you use AI, that’s not a privacy violation because it’s not your writing.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How to stop a parent from jumping into the nearest religious rabbit-hole to cope with a divorce?
313·9 days agoOne of my core values is that people get to decide for themselves what to believe. And it sounds a whole lot like you’re disrespecting your parent’s agency.
Imagine the thread: My son is talking like an atheist, how do I make them change?
Maybe your talking about Rick Sanchez, Sherlock Holmes, or James Bond because the asshole genius is a trope in media, not real life.
In real life they’re just assholes.
You must have been of Microslop for a while if you think frustrating issues on update is a Linux thing. Just last a couple weeks ago, Microsoft released a security update that locked people out of their “C” drive. (In Windows, this is bad)

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Should I use a dedicated password manager instead of Firefox's built-in manager?
1·12 days agoBrowser integration with password managers is overrated. It’s a lot of trouble, breaks all the time, and has security issues. Plus you’re trusting your logins to a third party which makes me sad.
I use a vanilla encrypted DB (KeePass) and just save the logins manually and copy/paste to log in. It’s not that hard.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do pot or other drug dealers "lace" their drugs knowing full well it will pretty much kill their customer base and rep? Is this not like a retail store telling customers everyday FUCK YOU and hope
13·13 days agoI read somewhere that there was an app developed by some organisation in a big city to track ODs and help addicts avoid known areas where drugs are adulterated. They had to shut it down when addicts would actually seek out the OD causing drugs using the app like yelp from the upsidedown.
Econ101 does not apply to addiction.

This is funny because the whole concept of going to a restaurant (or anywhere else) on a date is a modern concept that didn’t exist before car culture.
So something that didn’t exist before like 1947 is now seen by the manosphere-brained to be a biological imperative.
