It does, it’s a networking event that helps people find each other and gets apolitical people used to the idea of taking to the streets.
The only way that works is if they go and do something that matters after No Kings. Unfortunately, people show up for No Kings and then nothing else, and then pat themselves on the back like they’re fucking heroes because they went to a pep rally.
What makes it effective? Minneapolis got Kristi Noem fired, what has No Kings ever done? What could it ever do?
An effective protest needs some kind of actual action to pressure the ruling class; labor stoppage, boycott, public disruption, etc. Instead, the No Kings protest is designed to never inconvenience any businesses or inhibit the functions of government. The ruling class could allow a No Kings protest every day and it wouldn’t bother them at all, because it doesn’t actually do anything.
No Kings is a pep rally.
College is about accreditation instead of learning, so people will only put in the effort they need to become accredited rather than putting in the extra effort required to actually learn.
They don’t need to take on the full brunt of the US, they just need to keep the Strait closed to US-friendly traffic until the US economy collapses.
There’s a propaganda effort by white supremacist society to paint all reparations as “evil revenge against white people :<” instead of what it actually is: correcting the injustices of slavery by making whole the descendants of slaves who have been robbed of their heritage and generational wealth.
I’m really interested in what you think reparations even are - do you think they’re just going to shake down all white people for money? How are they going to punish you? Why would they punish you?

Cool anecdote. Every time we actually see real data, though, the numbers don’t reflect much in the way of productivity gains or increased efficiency or better output. People say that LLMs are useful because it feels useful, but we aren’t seeing actual usefulness. The most recent study out of Duke University observes “a productivity paradox, in which perceived productivity gains are larger than measured productivity gains, likely reflecting a delay in revenue realizations.”
A delay. Sure.
But benefiting from it is okay?
Robots aren’t like software, it’s immediately obvious when they don’t work the way they’re advertised whereas chatbots can trick people into thinking they’re way more useful than they actually are. The “fake it till you make it” “move fast and break things” ethos of tech doesn’t work when there’s actual, physical evidence that shit’s busted.

I suggest that there’s no meaningful benefit to be gained by looking backward rather than forward.

But that’s not how it works, is it? Great great great grandad gets to get rich off having slave plantations and his son gets to get rich off of Jim Crow sharecropping, and his great great great grandson gets to inherit that wealth without any complications.
It’s not actually possible to garner support from the far right by appealing to them without going far to the right on every issue. They aren’t undecided voters, winning them over requires being farther to the right than the candidates they already support.
Go to the right on Israel without going to the right on trans issues, environmental issues, immigration, regulations, taxes, etc then they’ll ignore you. Why vote for diet right-wing when they can vote for the real thing?

Seems to me like it would have come from plans drawn up 10+ years ago about where to target.
Naw, these plans were sitting around for a long time. Trump just picked them up and ran with them, even though a lot of stuff is out-of-date. The biggest clue is the the girl’s school bombing, it was once part of an IRGC compound ten-ish years ago.
If your country has a plan to go to war with every other country in the world and a warmonger gets elected then one of those plans will be implemented regardless of whether its justified. See: Iraq, Iran
The next fascist that gets elected will probably start a war with China regardless of the Taiwan situation.

The government of Iran won’t fall before they mine the Strait, and then it’ll be closed without any further input. Then all Iran has to do is survive the occupation while the global economy collapses, eventually starving the occupation of the funds it needs.
