Yeah, inside the case, under a layer. I printed the PLA layers, paused the print to insert the magnets and change to TPU filament, then resumed.
I had to extend a bump outside of the case a bit to accommodate the depth, but the bump worked nicely as a coping to seat the phone tightly in the mount so it didn’t come loose with e.g. road bumps in the car.
I printed mine with (4) 15×2mm magnets embedded which allowed me to easily attach it to a variety of desk and auto mounts.
I did this about 2 weeks before the iPhone started doing that, so I felt special for about that long. But it was extremely handy.
You can do it. I designed and printed my phone case in TPU on an Ender 3.
It even used two materials. PLA for the hard outer face, and TPU from there up giving a soft interface and bumper edge.
TPU does generally suck on a Bowden machine. Stringing galore!
To my knowledge, no buyers have received their devices. Some media samples were sent.
This is almost certainly a ploy to get an influx of buyers before the cutoff of July.
They want to round up all the people that they think were considering a lifetime pass, but were holding out.
I guarantee you when July comes they’re going to reduce the cost to somewhere less than $750 and much closer to the current price due to “we listen to our customers” when really it was the plan all along.
They’re using the Decoy Effect and FOMO.
Could be related to HDCP, the copy-protection mechanism in HDMI.
I know very little about it, but it is a likely possibility when some devices work and others don’t. If a device (like the PS4) enforces HDCP and the TV doesn’t support it, it will appear to not work at all.
Can you try disabling HDCP on the PS4? Does that fix it?
