Technically? No. The problem is that the existing laws legally speaking all apply to the driver, and tickets likewise are all issued to the driver, which doesn’t actually exist in this case. Cops were writing tickets and the company was paying them, but legally speaking it was a grey area and waymo could have disputed the tickets and there’s a decent chance they would have won. This legislation removes the ambiguity.

Kill it from the other direction. Make it illegal to algorithmically adjust a users experience to prioritize interaction regardless of whether that’s positive or negative. Ultimately that’s the problem with places like Facebook, they weigh an angry rant the same as a positive one, higher even in a lot of cases. Things that make people angry generate a lot more interaction than positive things so it drowns people in hate and fear. If you treat any interaction as a positive signal things just devolve.
It’s not public demand, it’s a very vocal lobbying group. One that’s funded by Facebook. Ultimately though it’s all just an excuse, the goal is to collect the data and has nothing at all to do with any of the things they claim it does.
It’s the dot com bubble all over again. Going to end the same way that one did as well, most of these companies are going to go bankrupt, a few will just eat the massive loss, and an even tinier handful will actually come out ahead. I’m betting the event that’s going to finally pop the bubble is when OpenAI is forced to file for bankruptcy in another year or so despite its ridiculous stock valuation.
Thanks I hate it. So ASRock just enshitified RAM. It was already a problem that prebuilt systems used the shittiest RAM on the market, but at least there was a minimum level of quality you could expect. Now ASRock has created DDR5 RAM that’s literally half the speed that DDR5 is supposed to support as a bare minimum.
Hmm, considering how cheap these are to make (relatively speaking) could it make a good decoy? Basically set a bunch of these up in random places away from anything important with remote on switches and when missiles start flying power them up one at a time. They’re more expensive than the anti-missile drones (those are supposedly about $1000 a piece) but they might be more effective in their own way.
I did that with Windows 10. I still have that partition but I haven’t booted it in years. I’ll probably overwrite it with something more useful one of these days.
You can pretty much always assume that’s the case with the US legal system. The lawyers always win, sometimes their clients do as well but that’s a lot rarer.
It was good for its time, but we need to be careful not to confuse that as an absolute statement rather than a relative one. By modern standards VHS is garbage with many significant problems, it’s just at its time everything else was worse. There were certainly many aspects of VHS that were good some even revolutionary, but it also had many significant flaws.
The biggest problem with DVD in the early days was just price. Early DVD players were ridiculously expensive compared to VHS, and the DVDs themselves were also significantly more expensive than VHS tapes. That of course changed over time, as DVD adoption drove the unit prices down across the board. By the time Bluray came around and began to drive out DVD the players had gotten so cheap you could sometimes find them for as little as $25, and DVD movies would regularly show up in discount bins for $5 to $10.
Unfortunately corporations are addicted to the micromanaging control that Active Directory gives to them. They don’t give a single flying fuck about the actual experience of using the OS, that’s a problem for the plebians, they care that AD let’s them do things like lock everyone’s background to a corporate approved image or force everyone to use Edge as their browser while disabling the password saving feature.
Basically the OS is irrelevant, it’s all about Active Directory.
There’s dozens of us. Works great on mobile with NoScript, although the source code snippets don’t load. Since the article describes what they do anyway it’s still readable without them, and the excellent performance is worth leaving JS blocked.

It seems there’s a few variants of the message depending on which product you have and not all of them mention the annual price.
That’s actually what I thought this was about at first which if it had been would be pretty big as I’m not aware of any ion thruster that’s useful for in atmosphere operation. Sadly this is not that.
This is a terrible misleading title. It absolutely has moving parts, it’s just using piezoelectric materials and compliant mechanisms to drive the moving parts rather than the more traditional electromagnets and gears.
Keepass (and its client variants, like KeepassXC which is pretty great) is even more secure because there is no server, just an encrypted file you can store anywhere.
And simultaneously less secure because it’s up to you to handle keeping your vault synced between various devices and most people are significantly worse at keeping systems secure than the professionals at the password managers.
Self hosting a server of some kind or using something like Keepass on a single device (with offline backups) is the most secure option, but as usual with security doing so trades significant convenience for security. For most people who are uninterested in making sure their servers are kept up to date week to week letting professionals handle it is the better option.
Churches need to lose the blanket tax exempt status. If they want to be tax exempt they should file as a non-profit like all the other tax exempt non-profits. Of course they would never do that because it would mean actually functioning as a non-profit.
The fines should go towards paying for road repair and upkeep as well as public transit. Better and well maintained roads will cut down on accidents and better public transit would cut down on the number of cars in the road which is a win for everyone.
