if you’re looking for a fun couch coop game, towerfall is really awesome! it’s a 2D vertical fighting game with bows, the controls are very easy to pick up and the rounds are fast, so anyone can join in and it’s really fun!

Flippanarchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Gotta address the root of the problem
7·3 days agoi mean, it has its roots in how we discuss climate change. we call it “human-made”, so yes, people will jump to “humanity is to blame for climate change”. it’s a very logical leap, and not entirely wrong, even if it doesn’t tell the whole story (which part of humanity is responsible?)

that’s the problem, you should give a fuck about this! as well as valve’s history of promoting gambling, and the superprofits they get by overcharging publishers (especially indie devs which don’t get the special reduced rates bigger publishers get). don’t overlook all of this because they run a cool platform you like!

World News@lemmy.ml•France Is Hotter Than the Sahara. This Is Everyone’s Warning.
15·20 days agoi meant it in the sense of “is france right now hotter than what the sahara typically is, or hotter than the sahara is at this moment?”
my point being that the sahara is also going through a heat wave
sorry for the confusion there 😅

42·20 days agohotter than the sahara normally, or hotter than the sahara right now?
the media focus is on europe, but other regions of the world are experiencing heat waves too and north africa seems to be particularly affected as well, which i see almost no one talk about…

yea, that’s pretty much it. third spaces include stuff like bars, public libraries, parks, public squares… basically, places where you can socialize outside of work.
they still exist, obviously, but many of them have disappeared over the years, especially the ones that don’t expect you to pay. it’s even worse in suburbs, especially car-dependent suburbs, because those are zoned as housing only (so no libraries, bars, sometimes not even a park), and if you’re a kid you can’t drive to a city, so outside of school (and maybe extracurricular activities, if your parents can afford those), you’re stuck at home where the only place you can socialize is the internet.

112·1 month agothe antagonists of stardew valley are joja, and the protagonists are you and (arguably) pierre, two small business owners. which are still capitalists (owners of capital), even tho they work.
stardew valley is a game which criticizes big capital (it shows how it alienates you from work, both in the beginning and with the villagers who work there, selling the town over to joja closes the community center definitively, they threaten to make pierre’s go out of business, their shitty products are polluting the water…), but also celebrates small capital with great naivety (you as the small business owner are responsible for repairing many things around town, including especially the community center, and you, pierre and harvey as small business owners are never criticized by the game in the same way joja is)
which is fine, it’s a game, it’s meant to be fun, of course the player has the most agency. it probably wouldn’t be as fun if you were a proletarian farm worker with little-to-no agency.
but that doesn’t make it anti-capitalist. stardew valley is a libertarian-right game, it’s the game that says “the problem isn’t capitalism, it’s corporatism!”

thankfully the us is the only country that has a sky so only their government’s approval is needed 😁👍
