Well, sure, but reddit (and FB, and Insta, and discord, and bluesky and mastadon and twitter and just about everything else out there, probably including Lemmy) are privately owned. Their sandboxes. Now, something like IRC or Usenet (which I still miss) is another matter.

I was banned for prohibited content on my “other accounts.”
I only have one account. (Appeal was denied, and I suspect the entire operation was done by bots. It literally said, “go look at your other accounts to see what you did wrong.”)
Meanwhile, another user over there is advocating violence against a very well known public figure (I’m sure you can guess what and who), and the comment is still up and the poster is not banned. -throws up hands-


There’s an article in CNET today about the new White House app; phrases like “hot mess” and “security nightmare” were used.
