  • I may have coined it myself, or i saw it in an article once and adopted it.

I think the reason why it’s everywhere is because most homeowners are boomers and boomers got the idea that gray tones make a “neutral pallette” where the residents can apply whatever color they want, which increases the potential buyer pool. At least this was the explanation provided to me when I asked why every single renovation looked the same.

Its widely considered as the standard metric for general intelligence.

That’s not to say it is perfect or doesnt have gaps, it doesn’t assess creativity, EQ, rational thinking, wisdom or impacts from socioeconomic.

However what is does measure are things like abstract reasoning, pattern recognition, working memory.

Its one of the strongest single predictors of academic performance, job complexity learning, and overall occupational success, and those things pretty obviously correlated with general intelligence.

IQ is actually one of the most stable metrics we have for intelligence. It does change with brain development but its also a comparative amongst your age group so your IQ remains very stable throughout your life.

It’s not to say you didnt mess up on your test at one point, or that someone who is having a mental episode cant distort it via anxiety or whatever
