Yes! While colour names are admittedly arbitrary cultural artifacts, tigers are famously considered to be orange and black striped. The Wikipedia article where you appear to have gotten that image of a tiger from even describes them as such in the first paragraph.
Funnily enough this is actually why tigers are orange. Since many of their prey animals have bad colour vision the orange that stands out to us actually looks the same as the foliage to them.
I hear you, but even if I’m presented with the options for voting between getting shot in the foot vs shot in the neck, I’m going to vote for getting shot in the foot so I can have a better chance to fight back. It sucks and is stupid that not getting shot isn’t an option presently but voting doesn’t have an opportunity cost so voting for a lesser harm is worth it.
Ya, I can not fathom why so much of Lemmy seems to have this inane either/or mindset when it comes to voting and taking other action of any kind as if they were mutually exclusive. The only way I can rationalize it is as a half-assed way of excusing present inaction (because they’ll totally take direct action… as soon as someone else starts it) or some kind of stupid moral purity thing. Those are very uncharitable interpretations though so I try not to assume them to be true. I just don’t have any other good explanations for it.
Ya, I wouldn’t personally call all those orange myself to be honest. All colour names are arbitrary but orange especially so since its a more recent invention (on a historical time scale) and our brains do some funky post processing stuff to differentiate it from brown (which is the mostly the same hue as orange, just dull as opposed to vibrant). So what exactly counts as orange is a bit of a mess even compared to other colours.
