  • Yeah I’ve done similar with sticking with training. If I plan to go for a jog I just put on my sport clothes after getting up, now that I wear my sport clothes I can go outside, now that I’m already outside in my sport clothes I can go for a little run. If at that moment I don’t feel like running I just take a little walk.

Same with my workout, I usually do it at home, I just start small, do 10 push ups, see how it feels, if they feel good I can do another rep, if that felt good I can also do another exercise and before I really notice I’ve done my workout.

And if I don’t feel like doing it I at least gave myself every opportunity to do it and I don’t beat myself up for not doing it.

For eating healthier I figured out that for me it starts in the grocery store. For once I never go shopping hungry and if I just have healthy stuff in my fridge I am way more likely to eat better.

  • From the official website:

Admission to the grounds of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial is free of charge. The entry cards should be reserved on visit.auschwitz.org. For better understanding the history of Auschwitz we suggest a visit with a guide-educator

I went there last month, you have to register online, then you can book a tour (which cost about 45€) there are tours free of charge but you have to book them way in advance. Upon arrival you have your personalized ticket and they do ID and security checks not unlike at an airport.

I suppose the need to register is for security reasons and to not overcrowd the place since tickets are limited.

I highly recommend a visit, I am well educated on the topic but being there, realizing that 1.1 million is not just a number is unreal.

Walking the same route from the loading ramps to the gas chambers, a group of people just like us, with the same hopes and dreams, the same fears and worries was just a harrowing experience.

  • Good write up!

You stressed already that imprisonment legally is seen as an infringement on your rights. Just adding a little interesting fact to that:

A prison break is not illegal per se in Germany. The urge for freedom is regarded as one of the most basic human urges.

So the act of escaping from prison carries no additional punishment, but crimes you commit pursuing that goal, do. For example breaking a window, attacking someone, stealing a key will get punished normally and will be added to your sentence. But if you manage to escape without committing any crimes you’ll just have to finish your original sentence (if caught obviously).
