In the US, highway rest stop bathrooms are free, but they’re only in the rural parts of the interstate. It’s a crap shoot as to how nice/ terrible they are, mainly depending on how old they are.
Restrooms in grocery stores, department stores, shopping malls, and big home improvement stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s are also free. Some gas station restrooms are also free, like Buckee’s, TA, & Love’s. Sure, some places have customer’s only restrooms, but there are plenty of places to go for free.
