21·4 days agoI used to feel this way, then I realized most people won’t ever notice me or care, which was liberating.

3·4 days agoDo what you can as you can.
You can totally enjoy time with your family, no shame in that.
Also if you want, consider a bike or ebike if public transport is not an option. (!micromobility@lemmy.world)

1·4 days agoDo things at your own pace, and try to enjoy the experience. There can be a great freedom when doing things alone, which makes me think of this manga/show called Kodoku no Gurume
I love to see films in theaters, but have been recently been watching at home. I was able to see the recent re-release of Princess Mononoke (1997) and it was worth it just to hear the soundtrack at the theatre.

You have to use basic logic to make the correlation, so they will get away with this murder and the many others they have committed, along with the many rapes.

Hardware@lemmy.world•Comparison of $4,000 boutique audio cable to $7 Amazon Basics cable shows audiophiles waste a lot of money — scientific audio equipment analysis with analyzer shows no difference in qualityEnglish
3·4 days agoAgreed, people should do that.
As I stated in a different comment, this is what I did with a friend. We had 5 different cabels ranging from cheap to about $4000 and we kept listening to the same song. I could not hear the difference after the cheapest performance cable however (Purple flare) but I definitely could hear the difference between those and the cheaper cables.
Again, I don’t know how to describe it. I’m not an audio guy, but I did prefer it.
Again, I’m not an expert. But I’m willing to bet that there is some aspect of sound that is simply not being accounted for in tests like these. And for anything that has to deal with your senses, you should test it for yourself, not just take someone else’s word or experiment for it.

111·5 days agoI don’t care if you believe me, it sounded different in a indescribable way.
If music is important to you I think doing tests like this is something you should do to see if there is a difference for you.
Basically I see a test like this and it seems like this food has the same nutrients as this more expensive food so its the same, while not being able to test for how food actually tastes.
Expensive things are not automatically better, don’t get me wrong.

36·4 days agoYeah, that happened. Only the cables were changed on the same audio equipment. Although it was was a night and day difference. Not that it sounded bad before. I’m sure it was objectively fine, the sound was just much more preferable. More like the band was physically in there room.

36·5 days agoNo, not those skus. But it was a similar test with compareable cables.
Edit: I tested with more cabels in between. I couldn’t hear the difference between the $1000 speaker wires and the $4000 ones however.

428·4 days agoI tested this myself as a skeptic, just changed the cabels, but was able to hear a very clear difference with my ears. Although I couldn’t explain that difference as I lacked the vocabulary, still do.
Maybe the testing criteria can’t capture that difference either. Either way, you should do you own testing and figure out what you like since this is subjective.
Edit: the scientific method is to test for yourself.
Edit 2: I don’t care if you downvote me, but if you refuse to test things like this out for yourself I am disappointed.
I swear one of my chickens has some avian adhd.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Have restaurants increased their prices lately due to the war?English
6·8 days agoMost restaurants will buy from a distributor in a time limited contract. Where a product like beef will be purchased at a set amount for a certain time. Larger chains might buy beef for a year to lock in a cheaper price if they think inflation is going to climb. Also note that restaurants are in competition with eachother so they might not want to be the first to mark up prices.
So the result is that in the event where everything becomes dramatically more expensive in a short time, you will probably see some lag before it shows, but it depends.
Aquaponics is great, you can start with a small tank, a few 5 gallon buckets for gravity and media filters, a a simple water pump to make the filtered water go up a shelf into a grow bed made from a big bakery container (filled with clay balls), a bell siphon to bring the water back to the fish tank, some pvc pipes for the piping. Grow lights, sump tank, bioreactors, water heater, and pH tester are optional but recommended. Replace the pvc with hdpe or uv treated pp after prototyping.
Start with tilapia which have a wide range of temps and pH they are ok with. But honestly I don’t like the flavor of the greens it produces, dirt is the way to go for cabage and lettuce if you care about flavor, unless we are talking about a survival situation. However for things that have their own flavor like herbs, this setup works well.
