I’d say compared to classical, the songs are more well known than the composers. For example, every jazz head would have heard of “Stella by Starlight” or “Misty”, but wouldn’t necessarily know the composers of those tunes.
Whereas with classical, people might have heard of Mozart, but not be able to name too many of his compositions.
