While this is most definitely a common sense take, in reality “maximize shareholder value” will push companies no choice but to automate these jobs for worse results.
They absolutely will try to automate these jobs, with some of the industries I listed seeing this process continue for generations. I just don’t think it will ever get to a point where people will pay to work at a tech company and tech companies will want to use the labor of these people.
