In the struggle against hierarchy, it can be easy to give in to crude forms of future conception, such as optimism and pessimism. But if we are to carry out a successful abolition of hierarchical society, we must abandon these naïve simplifications. Only hope may act as a guiding light in the long darkness and thus bring about a future of human flourishing. Hope is realism.
