I just find they’re overplayed, overrated, and kind of cringey.

Ska is one of my go to genres, a favorite, but I wish Sublime would go away. Every time I hear them I can’t get their songs out of my head for much longer than I would like. Every time.

I also used to hear them way too much in a place outside the US, which outside of shitty pop music was one of those “American” bands or whatever they thought, so bars played them. A lot.

    i will kinda agree here and say that outside of the handful of songs that are truly just great songs, the rest of their stuff is very flamboyantly trashy.

    i say this as I’ve slowly been culling most sublime out of my ska/whiteboi reggae playlists

    i don’t want to hear about underage sex

    now that weed is legal its not quite so exciting to hear about wanting to smoke all day (especially in mixed company)

    they are pretty aggressive and willing to murder/steal, which is not the vibe I’m usually going for with my ska.

    that being said: the few songs that broke through are truly important!
