How I imagine the meeting in some of the design companies.

I think the unique thing about the Euro is that it doesn’t show dead people from the past on the banknotes because the banknotes are supposed to represent all of the eurozone. The backside of the coins is for national stuff (including famous people if a country wants that). I doubt that people like Leonardo da Vinci or Ludwig van Beethoven have had anything to do with present day Europe because they lived at a totally different time.

And the bird/river theme is better but kind of boring.

They should instead have further developed the current architecture theme of windows on one side and bridges on the other.

If the old design is too generic, my suggestion would be images of actual infrastructure within the EU that connects different countries like bridges, tunnels, railroads, etc. for one side of the banknote as a symbol of connecting countries, free trade and removing borders because that’s what the Euro stands for. And for the other side different plants and animals that live in Europe including but not only limited to birds.

Maybe one could add technology like planes, satellites and an Ariane rocket (the I Series, which somehow is vertical, has some of that but very small and no rocket).

Or we put the Phoenician princess Europa on there with boobs to confuse the Americans.

    i really like the birds, especially the one with the bird in complementary color to the background that shows their habitat and what they eat. it’s a great theme of progress and freedom from borders, while also being educational. also, unlike the architecture, technology, and historical humans, no country can claim a bird.

    remember when they made fake bridges for the notes so that nobody would say they were playing favourites, and then some jackass in the netherlands copied the designs atd built all of them?

    no architecture, no current technology. make it about humanity, and about nature. otherwise it can be politicised. the birds are great, tte rivers are greaht, the hand gestures are great, the stylised musicians are great. more of that.

          Yeah, tbh our federal emblem looks less goofy with enough distance on some flag or embedded in another crest.

          Like seriously, why is it’s tongue out? Did the Bundesadler get run over by a retiree trying to back bis A-Klasse in the last parking spot at the supermarket?

    I never understood the big fuss about the country some people on the notes are from. Sure, Beethoven was German, but he was also a Bonner, from the Prince-Electorate of Cologne and a European, so he’s a perfect face for a European currency.

    When we still had our national currencies, nobody complained that there were two guys from Hesse and none from Schleswig-Holstein on the Deutschmarks. People from Munich weren’t pissed that there was a Nuremberger on the notes and not a Munichian.

    If we’re supposed to grow together as a union, we should start having European idols. I’m neither Polish nor French, but I can view Marie Skłodowska Curie as an European idol without being envious that she’s not from my hometown.

    People dead or alive shouldnt be on international bills!

    Where are greeks, spanish, irish, french, scandinavian, hungarian, aso people on the bills???!! Are they not equal to the others?! /mock

      There’s a Spanish author, a Austria-Hungarian pacifist/author, a Greek/Italian singer and a Polish/French physicist on the bills. But more importantly, there are Europeans on the European bills.
