    The US doesn’t even have proper brake light standards. Apparently EVs using their power recapture mode aren’t required to light the brakes because the actual brake isn’t being used.

    The car behind them not knowing they’re rapidly dropping speed won’t care what the mechanism of the slowing is.

      tbh that can already happen in an ICE car that uses engine braking, so that’s probably their logic. What bothers me more is that the turning lights used by many US manufacturers are not amber, so it’s easy to mistake it for brake lights in some situations.
