What law of the universe determines that the moment you try to be quiet, you are then encumbered by an unseen force that attracts you to every hard surface in the room?

Seriously, it’s like trying to be quiet causes some sort of phenomena where you unavoidably trip on things, kick the foot of the bed, or drop things.

Extra points if told from the perspective of a children’s book writer.

    My theory is that I still hit all that stuff and make a bunch of noise when not trying to be quiet, but it isn’t notable then so I just forget about it immediately.

    Also the usual time I’m trying to be quiet is sneaking into bed in the dark after staying up too late, so I’m hitting stuff because I can’t see it.
