Spot on in the first words!! Her car started smoking at the steering wheel the last bit when she drove home. “And i gotta work tonight”

Managed to find the cause (burnt switch, common to the model), and got replacement in time. Day gone but happy daughter

Don’t forget to send her the invoice she owes: one dinner+cleanup, chore, babysitting, artwork for her mother, or whatever.

The part itself was next to nothing. But the time and driving to a junkyard just to get it today instead of postorder … Ripped two cars to find the right one. Became real fast at that!

I’m a girl with a car and the last person I would think to call when my car breaks down is to call my parents?? No that’s a phone call to a tow truck & mechanic. Jeez.

I’m of the same opinion as you but that’s because both my parents are not fit to be adults. When my bike got a flat tire in the middle of town i was about to call a tow truck but my wife was like “just call my dad hell use a pickup truck from work” and within 15 minutes he was there helping me hoist the big heavy thing into the back of the truck.

Some parents are all the help one needs in certain situations :)

Same. I mean, both my parents are dead, so kinda pointless to call them if my car breaks down. But they wouldn’t have even been much help when they were alive.

yeah, unless dad is not too far away and know a bit about tech.

Most repair shops are fully booked weeks months ahead. Also she’s just started so the money savings are welcome too.

Why? Parents like to help and can often fix the issue for free. My daughters normally fix their own stuff but if they are in need I’ll lend a hand turning wrenches and stuff.

In my time zone you posted this at 7am on a monday, you say you had the day off work and it took you all day to repair your daughter’s vehicle, and now the day is over. Makes me wonder what time zone you’re in, are you in europe??
