I’d like to point out that Japanese politicians do the same thing at Yasukuni Shrine for their own fallen soldiers (including several war criminals) because that’s what you do in Shintō if you don’t want a bunch of people who died violent deaths to become angry kami who destroy your country. It regularly causes outrage in neighbouring countries.
Oh, this? It’s my shrine to the fallen Waffen SS soldiers that I pray to so they don’t become angry ghosts. Yes, it has to have a swastika and a copy of the Mein Kampf, how else are the ghosts going to know it’s their shrine? No I’m not a Nazi, I just wear the uniform and do the arm thing when I’m praying.
