There is no central authority that defines communism, so nobody can stop you from calling yourself communist, the word also has had varying definitions over time. The main difference I see is that if you haven’t read anything, you are a idealist communist as your opinion is not based on a materialist analysis of the mode of production.
I mean there is other media that could lead you to a materialist analysis of the mode of production and I would argue that for many comrades these times they first educate themselves via social media and start reading once they are largely ideologically aligned.
Oh, yeah sure. It depends on the social medium I guess. Long form YouTube content should definetly work, not sure if something like twitter actually allows content to be in depth enough to get a understanding of anything. I thought you meant with your original comment people that like the communist goal (communism) and generally support the actions/programms of communist movements, but haven’t actually informed themselves on materialism and the underlying contradictions of captalism.
