I’m confused. What’s the difference between mastodon and other such platforms mentioned in this thread? I thought these mastodon like platforms were the equivalent of twitter on the fediverse

Hmmm, I’m a bit rusty on this but can’t one put an auth gate in front of the application, handled by the reverse proxy?
